    Milestone warning...

I wasted a lot of money to be able to write this... David Toon is 40 years old and yet I agreed to pay him $15M this season and next to keep him around, just to see the expected decline in ratings and performance, but...

With an 8 inning, 1 run, 12 strikeout performance against Cold on June 9 (the last day of the last sim), Toon now stands at 299 career wins.

New Glarus looms 5 days from now, but I'm kind of hoping he comes out of that one without a decision. Because 5 days after that is a nationally televised (I presume) Sunday afternoon game in South Beach, during which Toon would pitch not only against the Sunburn, but against the ghost of one Clarence A. Howlett, from whom he would take the mantle of the best pitcher in league history.

Hopefully, once he wins his 300th he will decide to retire and free up some money for me to work with for next season.

wow, that's some record he's going after.  I'd love to see him TRY and get it against the 'Burn.  *grin*  Howlett's presence is strong in South Beach.  Too bad we can't do that game live.  That would be fun to watch.

oh, and i still think we need to rename the Top Pitcher and Top Hitter awards the Howlett and Ritz awards.  Gives the league some history, some presence.  And it just sounds cooler.

    Re: Milestone warning...

I'm completely baffled by it, but apparently after Parmley and Lee started (after Toon got a loss against NG), you had your two setup guys start the next two games, so Toon didn't get to pitch against SB.

Toon ended up starting against Spalding and getting no decision.

So Thomas, who has an endurance of 2, pitched 6 good innings, and then Beene, who has endurance of 3, pitched 2.1 innings as a starter in the next game. These two starts make zero sense whatsoever.

I'm going to look at other relievers and see if they're being started as well. I don't understand it.

Update: none of my relievers have started.

Update2: I wonder if it has something to do with your 7 day lineup settings.

    Re: Milestone warning...

Yeah, for whatever reason my 7-day lineup settings never make sense. They never match the pitching rotation as it currently stands, and then I change the pitchers in the 7-day lineup to match the rotation, and it never takes, and I'm back to the same messed up rotation the next time around.

I think it was a really bad idea to add the pitchers to the 7-day lineup feature. It doesn't work, and now it screws up epic pitching matchups.

I agree. I like the idea of the Ritz Award to the best hitter and the Toon Award to the best pitcher.

lies!  Howlett was the best pitcher in the BBL when Toon was still in diapers!

    Re: Milestone warning...

Just FYI, the "relievers starting" thing is worth watching.  I've already seen a case of it with both teams I'm managing.  I use seven day lineups sometimes for one, but never for the other, so that might not be the cause of a MR randomly starting.  Not a big deal yet, but if it keeps happening, it could eventually be...
